While several countries have offered modern tanks to Ukraine, Kyiv is desperate to secure the highly effective Leopards, which are easier to maintain and operate, and were designed to serve as a counter to Russia’s forces. He said: “You’ll help Ukraine with the necessary weapons anyway and realize that there is no other option to end the war except the defeat of Russia.”
President Joe Biden, who approved a new $2.5 billion weapons package for Ukraine this week, told reporters at the White House, “Ukraine is going to get all the help they need,” when asked if he supports Poland’s intention to send German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
