Last night was the coldest night of the year so far and snow is on the way for much of the UK through the rest of the week.
The picturesque scenes were posted all over social media, with Lydia Massiah, from Bristol, noting the scenes from her window in Bristol were rather reminiscent of the Chronicles of Narnia. Others gathered in a large group on the same beach to celebrate International Women's Day - with some wearing gloves with their swimming attire.Flights appear to be disrupted at Heathrow, London City Airport and Gatwick, the aircraft tracking site Sky Scan World reports.Images show flights flying in a circle around both London City Airport and Heathrow.Travellers are being warned of more snow and ice across the UK this week.
"Freezing conditions bring so many hazards, such as snow and ice, and take every possible step to understand your journey in advance and allow lots of extra time when travelling to prepare for the unexpected." In the post, the unit said:"Very heavy snow overnight is making driving conditions very dangerous. If your journey is not necessary please do not drive." Bristol Airport has temporarily grounded all flights due to heavy snowfall in the area.It said:"The Bristol Airport teams are working hard on snow clearing operations, but as the snow continues to fall, flight operations have been suspended until 11am.
