Abe HawkenBRITS are set to bask in 23C sunshine today as a mini-heatwave sweeps the country, with highs of 25C expected for Wednesday.is perfectly timed for the eased lockdown measures, with warm sunshine and clear skies set to spread across the week.

"England and Wales could see temperatures exceeding 20C and as high as 23C in some spots as temperatures keep climbing throughout the week." Meteorologist Nicola Maxey said: "We are slowly seeing day-on-day warming and we are seeing temperatures pick up, certainly by Sunday in London when we'll see temperatures of 20 or 21C."

The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday will be "increasingly warm with long sunny periods", the Met Office predicts. Katesbridge in Northern Ireland saw its lowest temperature ever recorded in May on Thursday morning at minus 6.1C, The Met Office reported.
