“It is clear that battle tanks could provide a game-changing capability to the Ukrainians, and the Prime Minister told President Zelensky last week the UK would do whatever we can. The Prime Minister has asked the Defence Secretary to work with partners in the coming weeks to discuss how we can go even further and faster in our support to Ukraine, including the provision of tanks.”
Mr Sunak said: “The relationship between our two countries is stronger than ever, not just across trade and security but also our values.” Mr Kishida responded: “Let us have a strategic discussion, that would be our hope. Thank you so much for creating this opportunity.” Japan is set to host the G7 summit in spring.
