SANTA FE — The University of Houston is working on a new three-year contract for baseball coach Todd Whitting, athletic director Chris Pezman told the Houston Chronicle. In 13 seasons, Whitting has posted a 418-310-1 record, winning the American Athletic Conference regular-season or tournament title five times between 2014-2018 and making four NCAA regional appearances. This season, UH went 36-23, finishing a half-game out of first place during the regular season and reaching the AAC tournament championship game.“We haven’t made the tournament in a few years,” Pezman said Tuesday during a Big 12 preview event at Haak Winery.
Whitting’s 418 wins are the second most in program history, and his .574 winning percentage is third all-time.
