UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has provided an update on his next fight
following the announcement that a pay-per-view card will be held in the UK in July.
“I wish I knew more myself,” Aspinall said. “I’ve got a date but that’s about it. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to training, I like to know who I’m fighting. I like to know all the details so I can prepare myself physically and mentally. Unfortunately right now I don’t know all of that. “If the fight doesn’t happen between me and Curtis, it’s the UFC’s doing,” said Aspinall. “We both want the fight. I want to get that one back and I know he wants a title shot so it makes all the sense in the world. Whether the UFC does it or not is up to them.
However, the timing of the event has caused controversy after the UFC announced that it will be staged on normal US primetime to maximise pay-per-view sales, meaning the main card won’t start until 3am in Manchester.
