It was a great day to be a UConn fan, as both the men's and women's basketball teams reached the Final Four.
In the afternoon, the undefeated No. 1 UConn Huskies women's basketball team beat the No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 70-52, to reach the Final Four. Head coach Geno AuriemmaIn their Elite Eight matchup, UConn trailed the No.
1 Duke Blue Devils by as many as 19 points in the first half and 15 points at halftime. Prior to Sunday, No. 1 seeds were 134-0 when holding a 15-point halftime lead inled to UConn's Braylon Mullins becoming a legend forever. Mullins swished a three-pointer from the logo with 0.3 seconds on the clock to seal a 73-72 win for the Huskies., it is the 15th time that the same university's men's and women's basketball teams reached the Final Four simultaneously. UConn previously did it in 2004, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2024. The UConn Huskies won the men's and women's national titles in 2004, The UConn women will play either No. 1 South Carolina or No. 3 TCU in the Final Four at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 3. The UConn men will play No. 3 Illinois in the Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on April 4.
