Tritons shoot 47 percent from the floor but can't contain Beach at the other end

Shooting has been the problem during many games this season for the UC San Diego men’s basketball team.Playing at Big West-leading Long Beach State, the Tritons allowed Beach to shoot 57 percent in a 103-87 loss.

The Tritons shot a healthy 47 percent and were over 50 percent for much of the night. But they couldn’t contain Long Beach State at the other end of the court.UC San Diego , actually led 57-55 at halftime. That was its last lead as Beach outscored the Tritons 48-30 in the second half, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor.

The Tritons were led by forward Jake Kosakowski, who scored 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He made 8 of 14 3-point attempts.Bryce Pope added 15 points and Francis Nwaokorie added 11 points, but Tritons leading scorer Tony Rocak had just six points in 16 minutes. Jace Roquemore had 10 points. The Tritons are back at home Saturday when they host Cal State Fullerton on Senior Day. Game time is 1 p.m.
