A vigilant Uber driver and quick-acting deputies stopped a potentially deadly arson attempt in Martin County, Florida on Sunday. The suspect, Carlos Agustin Flores, confessed to the driver his plan to burn down his friend's house over a $100 debt.
p The Martin County Sheriff's Office said the suspect, 33-year-old Carlos Agustin Flores, was reportedly angry over a $100 debt he claimed was unpaid by a friend. The debt came from a night out at a strip club, where Flores had loaned the money for "entertainment purposes". Despite his friend’s claims that the debt was repaid, Flores remained unconvinced and decided to take drastic measures, MCSO said.

"I think the Uber driver giving us that phone call was so important," Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said in a news conference on Wednesday afternoon. "It's really a message to the whole community, if you see something or something hear something, take it seriously.""Yeah, it's gonna be him. That's it. I can smell it," Sgt. Brochu can be heard saying on body camera footage. "Get him secured, handcuffed. He's got a lighter in his hand.
