Former President Donald Trump took part in a streaming conversation on X with the platform’s billionaire owner Elon Musk, but it got off to a late start after being plagued by technical difficulties. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports for TODAY.
The United Auto Workers on Tuesday filed federal labor charges with the National Labor Relations Board against former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk for publicly applauding the practice of firing employees who threaten to strike. “I look at what you do,” Trump said to Musk during a two-hour interview on X Monday night. “You walk in, you say, ‘You want to quit?’ They go on strike,” Trump said of Musk, who is CEO of the EV car maker Tesla and SpaceX.
The UAW, which represents over 400,000 auto workers, has already endorsed Harris. But another major U.S. labor union, the Teamsters, has yet to make an endorsement. A spokesman for the Teamsters did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Trump’s support for union busting. In July, Teamsters President Sean O’Brien delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention.
