Palmer was a third-team All-AAC pick for the Blazers in 2023, when he totaled 47 receptions for 858 yards and seven touchdowns. In three seasons at UAB after transferring in from junior college, the Brown Deer, Wis., native had 83 catches for 1,409 yards and nine scores.NFL.com draft profile reads in part. “He lacks suddenness, so getting off press coverage and separating against tight man coverage will be challenging. He has a terrific catch radius and has proven himself a willing combatant with contested catches. Palmer’s size and build-up speed paired with route limitations could make him a late-round pick or undrafted target for a team that runs a West Coast offense.”
Palmer is the first UAB wide receiver drafted by an NFL team since J.J. Nelson was taken in the fifth round in 2015, also by the Cardinals. Former Blazers wide receiver Roddy White went in the first round to the Atlanta Falcons in 2005 and went on to reach the Pro Bowl four times.
