On Tuesday night in Birmingham, the UAB Blazers defeated the Tulane Green Wave with a score of 81-68. After three American Athletic Conference ( AAC ) games, Tulane holds a 2-1 conference record. This marks an improvement over their 1-2 start last season and brings their overall season record to 8-8. Despite the loss, Tulane prevented a 3-0 start to the AAC season, a feat they haven't accomplished in over 25 years.
UAB's Yaxel Lendenborg dominated the first half, scoring 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting, with eight rebounds and six assists. Tulane's strategy in the second half involved double-teaming Lendenborg, shifting his role towards playmaking. Tulane's Jalen Cook had a breakout performance, scoring 16 points.
