The U.S. Open cuts the prize money for the winners—but boosts pay for everyone else

The Qualifying Tournament starts Tuesday. Last summer, spectators were not allowed to attend the U.S. Open due to health and safety concerns amid the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of the decreased revenue, the total prize money was reduced to $53.
