Two U.S. shale producers have challenged an energy pipeline operator's prop...
Houston-based Plains this month proposed charging shippers a 5 cents per barrel fee on its 670,000 barrel-per-day Cactus II pipeline next April to offset higher construction costs due to the steel tariffs. In their filing, ConocoPhillips and Encana said Plains’ surcharge was premature because the U.S. Commerce Department may still grant the pipeline operator an exemption before the fee goes into effect in April. The companies said surcharges “are generally disfavored” by FERC.
The U.S. Commerce Department had rejected Plains’ two initial requests for a waiver, and the company has filed a third request, a spokesman had said earlier this month.

Five Two Silicone StrawsBendable, eco-friendly, and perfectly portable, our Five Two Silicone Straws are poised to swan-dive into your iced latte, green juice, lemonade, smoothie (whatever pick-me-up you have in mind, really)—then stay right by your side, no matter where the day takes you. We crafted them out of platinum-grade silicone (the best of the best) that’s BPA- and BPS-free—plus, it won’t pick up odors or tastes. Then, we added a couple of extras to make your life easier to the last drop: 4 squeegees for speedy cleaning (but the whole shebang is dishwasher-safe, too). 4 mini carrying cases so you’ll never have a wet straw in your bag. A thoughtful alternative to glass, stainless steel, or bamboo, silicone straws are unbreakable and temperature-safe, so they won’t get too hot or cold to the touch. And reducing single-use plastic in general is an important goal (one that’s important to our community!)—there are nearly 7.5 million plastic straws lying around America’s shorelines, according to one estimate. Switching over to our silicone set lets you ditch the disposable plastic versions for good—it’s a small, practical, and doable-for-everyday change. The whole set (that’s 10 straws and 4 squeegees with carrying cases) comes in a biodegradable, compostable box with 100% post-consumer recycled plastic inner tray. Each one is done up in our signature Five Two palette—10 easy-on-the-eyes colors that let you keep tabs on exactly where your straws end up. Everyone in the family can have their own—they’re safe for kids!—or you can assign some for home and some for work…your call.
