Heard on the Street: Sentiment in the corn belt is looking up, and that includes how farmers feel about the trade dispute with China
Even if corn isn’t growing, U.S. farmers’ mood may be knee-high by the Fourth of July.
The Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, a monthly survey released on Tuesday, showed farmer sentiment has picked up after collapsing in May. It turns out that flooding-related problems planting spring crops were great for crop prices. Farmers’ overall sunny disposition has bled into feelings on trade, too, and feelings on that important issue should keep recovering. Agricultural investors shouldn’t get carried away, though.
