Part of the reason: More Americans said jobs were harder to get than in the prior month — 16.4% vs. 11.8% The survey was completed on June 14 — before a surge in U.S. stock markets that has pushed equities to record or near-record highs.Big picture: Consumer confidence has clung to relatively high levels this year, but slower economic growth, a big drop in hiring in May, and worsening trade tensions with China have made them less optimistic.
