U of S enrolment holds steady, with many coming to campus for first time

The university welcomed the most people to campus since 2019 as the fall term began with loosened pandemic restrictions.

Almost 2,900 international students are enrolled. India accounts for the largest number of U of S international undergraduate students, with 354. The largest single number of graduate students from any one country comes from Iran, with 254.Article content The U of S also reported a 5.8 per cent drop in Indigenous students, with 2,708 registered at the start of this term. Fifty-four per cent of the Indigenous students are members of First Nations and 46 per cent are of Métis ancestry. The report also noted 0.04 per cent of Indigenous U of S students identify as Inuit.

The university has made programming intended for new students available to all, in recognition of the many students who may be taking their first in-person classes this term.
