Fury and Joshua had actually signed contracts to fight in August 2021 in Saudi Arabia for the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO heavyweight world titles. However, the bout was unable to take place due to Deontay Wilder's legal arbitration victory, with he and Fury eventually having a trilogy clash instead. Following his win against Chisora five months ago, the Gypsy King had talks with Oleksandr Usyk for a fight that would take place in April.
