Enda McGinley lifted the Sam Maguire Cup three times under Harte and says his Errigal Ciaran clubmate has made 'a very clear statement'
Enda McGinley reckons his former Tyrone boss Mickey Harte has gone to Derry 'for one reason and one reason only' - to win another All-Ireland.
Speaking on Highland Radio's DL Debate, McGinley said Harte's real challenge will be to beef up his panel ahead of their return to Division 1. "And so that's their target, there's no doubt about that. He will bring a lot of know-how. The tactical situation will be fascinating because Rory Gallagher introduced a very, very unique, different style of attacking where there were four or five men pushed up inside the 21.
"I think actually what he will do, his biggest challenge will actually be to strengthen that panel. Because for Derry the run through Division 1 this year is a much bigger test for them than the run through Division 2. McGinley noted that Derry defender and former captain Chrissy McKaigue is part of Devlin's management team with Tyrone outfit Ardboe. He said that 'you would imagine that this is the most likely route that this sort of surprising turn of events has come about'.
