After a surprise roster decision, the Seahawks’ leading tackler thanks the city after less than a season with the team.
In wake of his surprising exit from the Seattle Seahawks, former linebacker Tyrel Dodson has made a brief statement on social media. Here’s what Dodson posted on X . Dodson notably did not say anything about the Seattle Seahawks organization. During his time in Seattle, Dodson engaged in community work by playing video games with kids at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dodson was only nine games into his one-year, $4.26 million contract he signed with Seattle this past offseason.
Since this move was made after the trade deadline, Dodson is now subject to waivers. This means that the 31 other NFL teams can claim Dodson off of waives, for only $1.1 million. Had this move been made prior to the deadline, Dodson would have been free to choose his next team as he has more than four accrued seasons in the NFL. This offseason, the Seahawks signed both Dodson and Jerome Baker to be the starting inside linebackers for the Mike Macdonald defense.
