A Category Four typhoon is forecast to hit the island of Guam, a US territory in the Pacific that is home to a crucial American military outpost

The storm's top winds had weakened slightly but it remained a dangerous Category Four typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour , and gusts up to 175 mph at landfall, the National Weather Service said. As of 1:31 pm Wednesday local time , the storm was 45 miles southeast of the island, the NWS office in Guam said in an advisory.
