Former Cincinnati receivers coach Mike Brown, who is now at Wisconsin, spoke to the Tribune recently to relay his experience with Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Tyler Scott and offer insight on his skill set.

Whenever anyone talks about Tyler, the first thing they mention is that speed. As someone who was around that as much as you were, how would you describe the speed he plays with? That was probably the thing I was most impressed with. Coming out of high school, he was a running back and a big track guy. But he worked his tail off to figure out how to actually use that speed and be able to start and stop and do some things like that where you are able to get in and out of breaks. And then he had to learn how to move defenders and set different routes up.

Those guys are just so smart and they react so much faster and they study so much film. Half the time they know what you’re running based off your split and your offense’s tendencies. It’s down and distance and that game inside of the game. So now it’s having to be creative and learning how to combat that.
