I say this because I used to be firmly anti-loafer. They felt too preppy, too menswear-inspired for my particular style and wardrobe. But then something changed, and I found myself picking up a pair of navy loafers from Chanel.
Now I'm circling back to the classics, starting with G.H. Bass's Weejuns style. The American brand claims to be the first to make penny loafers for women, which is all well and good, but I'm attracted to them for the stark black-and-white models they currently have for sale. I'm particularly drawn to this pair, where the white panel is embossed with a snakeskin pattern that adds another layer of visual interest.
