Queensland Energy Minister Mick de Brenni says he has full confidence in the CS Energy board despite taxpayers remaining in the dark over the cause of the catastrophic failure of the state-owned firm’sThe sustained outage of the 932 MW state-owned power station has pushed up electricity prices across the grid and raised questions about the long-term reliability of coal power stations across the National Electricity Market.
Energy experts said while the explosion at Callide C was “extremely rare” the review into the causes was taking an “unusually long time”. “The responsible minister, Mick de Brenni has repeatedly declined requests from the Coalition for a simple update on the review and is treating the rest of Australia no different.”The Callide C power station, near Biloela in Central Queensland, is a joint venture between CS Energy and Genuity .
