Across Uvalde and in Texas, the call for stable leadership to establish healing and safety has gone unanswered.
Two years ago, 19 children and two teachers were killed in the school massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde . Uvalde , a small city about 80 miles west of San Antonio , became a national touch point on that day — May 24, 2022 — when an 18-year-old gunman turned the school into a killing field. It was the nation's second-deadliest school shooting, and questions still linger today about how the flawed police response contributed to the suffering.
