Two State Police troopers were among three people hospitalized after their vehicle was rear-ended on the Garden State Parkway when they arrived to assist a motorist who struck a deer, authorities said. The troopers suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening, a State Police spokesman said. The driver of the vehicle that hit the State Police vehicle also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash took place shortly before 2:30 a.m on the southbound side near milepost 121 in Old Bridge, officials said. The vehicle that hit the deer became disabled in a lane on the Parkway after striking the animal, State Police said.
