Columbus police are investigating two separate incidents in the same area. One is a shooting, the other is a woman recovering after being seriously beaten.
“I heard the shot and then I go outside and see the guy. He says call 911 that’s it,” he said.Columbus police said officers went to the 1100 block of North High Street around 5:39 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
Police found one person injured who was then taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition. The victim is now in stable condition. A few buildings down from the shooting police say a woman on North High Street was rushed to the hospital with severe cuts to her head and neck just after 1:15 a.m.The Short North sees a lot of foot traffic over the weekend.
The organization The Short North Alliance released a statement emphasizing that safety is always top of mind.“We are aware of the recent incidents that occurred in the short north and are deeply concerned for those affected. We are thankful for the quick response of law enforcement officers and remain in close communication with local authorities to ensure the safety of everyone in our community. Safety remains our top priority.
