The pair were found guilty in February of the deadly plot
A man and woman were sentenced this month to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing a Fremont man as part of a murder-for-hire plot to reap an $800,000 insurance payout.
Maria Moore, 50, was convicted of murder for hiring a man to kill her former lover, Dominic Sarkar, in order to get his life insurance policy money. Maria Moore, 50, and Marvel Salvant, 46, will spend the rest of their lives behind bars for the October 2018 killing of Moore’s domestic partner, Dominic Sarkar, 56, according to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. Both wereProsecutors said that Moore tried to pocket the money from two life insurance policies in Sarkar’s name — one for $500,000, and another for $300,000. The two had a casual romantic relationship, the Fremont Police Department said.
On the $300,000 insurance policy, Moore took steps to remove Sarkar’s daughters as the sole beneficiary of the policy before his death, authorities said.
