A manager for Ingram Park Chrysler Jeep and Nissan dealerships said women were “ignorant, lazy or unqualified” to work as service advisers, the lawsuit alleges.
Two San Antonio dealerships and their owner have been sued by the federal government for allegedly subjecting two female employees to sex-based discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Ingram Park Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram , the adjacent Ingram Park Nissan and their owner, Benson Enterprises Inc. , are accused of engaging in unlawful employment practice in the complaint, filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Wednesday in federal court in San Antonio .
When the woman complained about the treatment, the EEOC alleges that the defendants retaliated against her by firing her in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1976. The law prohibits sex discrimination and retaliation. The lawsuit also alleges the service manager excluded both women, the dealerships’ only female service advisers, from various communications about business operations, including competitions for monetary bonuses.
