The man was shot about 6:50 a.m. outside his home in the 600 block of 58th Street in North Oakland, a primarily residential neighborhood just west of Shattuck Avenue.

Police said he had just returned home from dropping some people off at an airport when he was shot by a male trying to carjack him.The woman was shot about 11:36 a.m. inside her home in the 1800 block of West Street, in West Oakland.A search for the suspected shooter ended nearly three hours later, when authorities found the suspected gunman about a quarter-mile away — having been wounded from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Oakland police.

The 29-year-old man, who was a relative of the woman, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:45 p.m., police said.
