Two people are dead after a pair of connected shootings along Thunderbird Road in Phoenix in Sun City. One of the two shootings involved Phoenix police officers.
Two people are dead after a pair of shootings, one involving police, in Phoenix and Sun City.Phoenix police say they were called to the area of 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road for a reported shooting. The caller told police someone was shot in a vehicle. Witnesses at that scene gave police the suspect's vehicle description, and police tried pulling the vehicle over after locating it.The vehicle would not pull over and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended when the suspect parked at a business near 99th Avenue and Thunderbird Boulevard. He got out of his vehicle and began walking away before he allegedly pointed a gun at the two responding officers. One officer shot at the man and police say the man also shot himself. The man, identified as a 28-year-old, was taken to a hospital where he later died. The victim in the initial shooting has been identified as a 45-year-old man. No officers were hurt in the shooting.
