Two people dead after crash involving HGV and car in Lancashire
A man and a woman died in the crash that closed a major road in east Lancashire, police have now confirmed.
The A59 Gisburn Road in Sawley has been shut since around 10am on Thursday morning, after a collision involving an HGV and a Chrysler car. The occupants of the car - a man and woman in their 60s - were pronounced dead at the scene, police have now said. In a statement issued late on Thursday evening, a spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "An investigation is under way after a fatal collision in Sawley today . We were called to Gisburn Road at 10.48am to reports of a serious collision involving a HGV and a Chrysler car."Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the occupants of the car - a man and woman in their 60s - were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage which could assist our investigation is asked to email [email protected] or call 101, quoting log 421 of October 6, 2022.
