WA Police believe at least two people are dead after a truck carrying ammonium nitrate and car collided on the Great Northern Highway, starting a fire so fierce emergency crews were unable to get near it for hours.
WA Police say it is unlikely anyone has survived a crash between a truck and car that sparked a severe chemical fire in WA's Pilbara region.At least two people are expected to have diedPolice are yet to examine the scene of the crash but believe at least two people have been killed.
Due to the severity of the fire, and the risk of further chemical spills, police have been unable to determine how many people were involved in the crash."Major Crash arrived late last night and they will be attending this morning," she said."The roads are closed, there is an exclusion zone in place for the safety of not only the public but emergency service first responders as well.
"Our emergency response team from a mine quite close, Gudai-Darri, certainly helped with the response yesterday," Mr Cohen said."I think it's all hands on deck as always in the Pilbara when you deal with these really tragic incidents."
