Anchorage police say a man shot at traffic along the Glenn Highway, then tossed a handgun over a fence while fleeing from police before finally giving himself up, along with a woman he was with.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage police are investigating the motive behind a Tuesday night incident involving a man firing a handgun towards traffic near Boniface Parkway and the Glenn Highway,The Anchorage Police Department arrested two people — 37-year-old Franklin J. Dias and 20-year-old Evamarie G.I. Booth — in the incident, as well as a third — 25-year-old Kenny J. Totemoff, who police say was jailed on a misdemeanor warrant.
“Very quickly after the first arriving officer advised his patrol vehicle had been hit, other officers arrived at the scene and saw an adult male and adult female running on the bike trail near the Glenn Highway and Boniface overpass.,” police said. As he was running, police say they saw Dias toss a handgun over the fence separating the highway bike path from Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson. Officers later found the gun, along with a “large knife” on the paved walkway.
