A large event space and an Art Deco bar are opening soon.
Two new LGBTQ bars and event spaces will soon enter Oakland's nightlife scene. The founders of Port Bar, an LGBTQ bar at 2023 Broadway, told theThe new venue is planned for 1544 Broadway, just a few blocks down the street from Port Bar. Founders Sean Sullivan and Richard Fuentes told the Business Times that they plan to feature cabaret shows and DJs, and are already on the books to host afterparties for RuPaul's Drag Race Werq The World Tour and Oakland Pridefest in September.
Two permanent bars are also planned at the front and back of the space, which will serve food. The plan is to officially open Fluid510 by the winter holidays.covered the impending opening of Town Bar & Lounge, another new LGBTQ bar coming to Oakland. Joshua Huynh’s bar in the historic I. Magnin Building at 2001 Broadway has been in the works for years now, but it’s finally looking ready to open this fall — hopefully by September.
The location’s proximity to other Oakland queer bars like The Port and Que Rico has Huynh thinking big.
