GEORGE TOWN: Police have seized over RM5mil worth of drugs after a drug bust in Penang.
Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said two male suspects, aged 42 and 46, were arrested following two raids in the northeast district between Aug 15 and 16.
"Their arrests then led police to a condominium in Tanjung Tokong which was believed to be used as a lab to process heroin. "We seized 65.38kg of heroin base and 13.62kg of heroin. Also seized was 8.48g of caffeine powder. The drugs were worth RM5.78mil."The syndicate is believed to have been active since early this year," he told a press conference at the state contingent police headquarters in Penang Road here Friday .
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the suspects have since been remanded for seven days.
