The accident took place near Inverkip last night, causing the road to be locked down by crash site investigators.
Two men have been rushed to hospital following a 'serious' crash on the A78. The alarm was raised shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, October 14 when officers were alerted to a smash on the busy road near Inverkip.
The 59-year-old male driver of the Toyota Yaris and the 22-year-old male driver of the VW Golf were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to receive treatment.
