The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the victims as Traiquielle Raheem Chambers, 29, and Paul Justin Stanley, 35. Both men lived in Birmingham.
Shot Spotter, the city’s gunfire detection system, alerted West Precinct officers about 9:30 p.m. to shots fired in the 1400 block of First Avenue West.Sgt. Wade said the preliminary investigation indicates the victim was involved in a verbal altercation somewhere else. Investigators believe Chambers may have returned fire before he was killed. There were witnesses at both locations that were able to police about the altercation.Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday to Budgetel Inns & Suites on Kelco Place on a report of a person shot.
