Two men have been charged for trying to conceal the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a 2-year-old Park Forest child, police said.

Shaun D. Brown, 34, of Park Forest, was charged Nov. 26 with felony obstructing justice and two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing police. On Dec. 2, Devin K. Galloway, 32, of Matteson, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to Park Forest police.Shortly after 11 a.m. Nov. 25, Galloway and Brown brought the 2-year-old to a hospital with a gunshot would, police said.

Initially, Galloway told police he was the child’s father and that the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Forest Boulevard in Park Forest, police said. When officers arrived to that address, Brown was there and corroborated Galloway’s story, police said.Brown was arrested after he began to physically obstruct the officers’ investigation, police said.

Through the investigation, police said they learned the shooting occurred in the 100 block of Hemlock Street and the child was taken to the Forest Boulevard location before the hospital. Police also determined that Galloway was not the child’s father but his caretaker when the shooting occurred. Galloway, with Brown’s help, “went to great lengths to conceal the location and circumstances of the shooting,” police said.

Through a search warrant, police found a stolen and loaded gun in the car driven by Galloway, who is a felon, police said. The gun is being tested to see if it was used in the shooting, police said. The Park Forest Police Department is still investigating the shooting and anticipates additional arrests and charges, police said.
