Police swoop on burglary suspects following cash and jewellery thefts
Three men are being questioned by police following two burglaries in Wilmslow in which cash, jewellery and bank cards were stolen. Two men, aged 49 and 36, was arrested in Stockport town centre on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
A third man, 46, was also arrested in Marple on suspicion of burglary. It follows two break-ins in Wilmslow in April. Police say items recovered following the Stockport town centre warrants are now being examined and are believed to be linked to one of the Wilmslow burglaries. The arrests were made as part of a joint operation between Greater Manchester and Cheshire targeting burglary, robbery and vehicle crime.Det Sgt Matthew Tarr, from Stockport’s Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: "Burglary – and associated handling of stolen goods - is a priority for us along with vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour.
"We will always act on intelligence and urge anyone with information or concerns about criminality to contact police."
