Two Massachusetts towns have a high risk of EEE infection in humans for the first time in 2024.
The Massachusetts Department of Health has increased the risk to high in Middleborough and Carver .
Lakeville, Bridgewater, and Rochester have been increased to a moderate risk, along with Halifax, Plymouth, Plympton, Kingston, and Wareham, which were already at a moderate risk. EEE-infected mosquitoes have also been identified in Halifax and Kingston in Plymouth County, Barnstable in Barnstable County, and Amesbury and Haverhill in Essex County.
