About two hours before the mayor’s statement, the state forest fire service said the fire had burned 140 acres and was zero percent contained Earlier Wednesday, Dale said some homes on Blakely Lane were at risk, adding that West Milford firefighters were on hand to protect the residences. In addition, all horses were evacuated from Echo Lake Stables, the mayor said.
