PSNI figures might not provide the full picture as 28% of those seriously injured in RTCs from 1999-2021 weren't known to them
More than two children a day were hurt in Northern Ireland road crashes on average last year, according to PSNI statistics. The figure shows the "shocking" impact collisions are having on families with a total of 831 under 16s injured on our roads throughout 2023.

A PSNI spokesperson told us: "This matter has been identified by the Northern Ireland Strategic Road Safety Forum and analysis is currently being conducted, looking back at the last 50 years and assessing all road safety interventions such as legislation, car safety upgrades, and education programmes."
