According to a new study, two Scottish beaches are among the top 20 in the world for 'switching off' due to their remote and secluded location and breathtaking views.
New research has revealed the top beaches in the world for "switching off" and two scenic Scottish spots are included.
Yacht charter sailing holidays specialist Sunsail has analysed a combination of online search data, Tripadvisor reviews, information from official tourism boards, and geological data to put together a list of the "most secluded beaches in the world for switching off". The former is the higher-placing of the two beauty spots, coming in at number seven for the entire world. With an average rating of five out of five on Tripadvisor, the beach has been praised by visitors for its "magnificent" sea views and "calm lagoon area".
Meanwhile, Sandwood Bay on the far northwest coast of the mainland appears at number 19 on the list. Among the UK's most remote and stunning beaches, it also has a perfect five-out-of-five score on Tripadvisor — with users raving about its "fresh" water and "white and soft" sand.
