Shawarma King, on King Street, and Donner Shack, inside the Silverburn shopping centre have both been shortlisted as finalists in the prestigious awards.They join eight other Scottish takeaways who are all competing for the top spot. One of them will be crowned the winner during a ceremony at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge Hotel, on February 28.
The kebab industry normally brings in more than £2.8 billion a year to the British economy, with more than 1.5m kebabs sold across Britain every day. The industry is also one of the most inclusive food sectors in the UK, with many employees of Kurdish, Turkish, Greek, Lebanese, Armenian and other backgrounds.She said: "It’s always a brilliant night and a chance to appreciate some of the hidden treasures in the kebab world.
