According to Grace Langa, Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson, the incident took place around 1 am on Northern Drive.
“ members spotted a suspicious vehicle and activated blue lights and sirens to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop. Police drove to the side of him shouting for him to stop and he still failed,” said Langa. He added that the car eventually stopped and when a police officer approached it, the occupants fired shots at him injuring him on his leg.
“The other police officers who were with their colleague then retaliated by shooting at the suspects.
