The fatal collision happened Wednesday night at Castro Lane and Mission Boulevard.
The crash happened around 10:25 p.m. at Castro Lane and Mission Boulevard and did not involve any other vehicles, according to Fremont Police Department. Both people died at the scene.An initial investigation indicated the car was speeding eastbound on Driscoll Road toward Mission Boulevard when the driver lost control and hit the tree, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police said “excessive speed appears to be a significant factor.” The fatal traffic collision is the 14th of the year in Fremont.
