Two charged with murder in slaying of Harris County deputy constable
Ahsim Taylor Jr., 21, and Jayland Womack, 20, were both arrested and charged with murder, Gonzalez said.
"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Deputy Omar Ursin," Gonzalez said."We hope the arrests today provide the family with some level of relief." In a follow-up tweet to the arrest announcement, Gonzalez said that"violent repeat offenders should not be allowed to walk in and out of jail before their trial."
Womack was arrested in January 2021 and charged with the death of Devin Wood, 19. Wood was shot during a suspected robbery in northeast Harris County. Womack and another man were accused of shooting Wood during a marijuana deal outside Wood's family home, according to court documents.
