Two brothers charged with killing Chicago Police Officer Ella French, wounding another

'We will never forget the true bravery she exemplified as she laid her life down to protect others,' the Chicago Police department said.

Emonte Morgan, also known as Monte Morgan, 21, is charged with first degree murder of a peace officer, attempted first degree murder of a peace officer , aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Morgan pleaded guilty to a robbery charge filed in 2019 and was sentenced to probation.

Jamal Danzy, 29, has also been charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office with federal firearm violations. He allegedly bought the weapon that was used and gave it to Eric Morgan even though he knew Morgan was a convicted felon.Getty Images
