A two-alarm fire at the Plaza Latina Bazaar in Northwest Dallas resulted in a partially collapsed roof and several animal deaths. Firefighters battled the blaze for two hours before extinguishing it. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Dallas firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at the Plaza Latina Bazaar on Harry Hines Boulevard in Northwest Dallas . The fire in the large, one-story shopping center near Harry Hines Boulevard and Denton Drive started around 9 a.m. on Friday. Dallas Fire-Rescue said that by the time firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were rising from the building. Images from SKY 4 showed a partially collapsed roof. Firefighters had to use hoses and ladder pipes to fight the fire defensively.

It took them about two hours to fully extinguish the blaze. DFR officials said it's not clear how many people were inside when the fire started, but everyone made it out safely. Several animals were killed, though. DFR said one of the businesses operating inside the bazaar sold exotic animals and some of those animals did not survive. The cause of the fire is still unknown. It’s not yet clear how much damage the fire caused or how the businesses operating out of the building will be affected
